Also on the console is your battery level so you know when to save energy for the return trip.

There is an alarm system where you can add your 4 digit PIN in the console. When entered it then takes two turns of the pedal which turns the system on, at which point a little alarm will sound to tell you the system has turned on.

Bionx Battery

You get three chioces of battery. 24V NiMH, 24V Li-Ion, or 36V Li-Ion. The Ni MH has a shorter life span (400 - 500 cycles) and range (max. 70 km) than the two Li-Ion batteries, but it does charge quicker at 3 hours.

The 24V Li-Ion battery has a life span of 500 cycles and a maximum range of 80 km on a charge, wheras the 36V Li-Ion battery has a maximum range of 100 km. The life span is the same, and both take 4 hours for a full charge.

Bionx Electric Bike Motor

If you choose the 36V Li-ion battery for your bionx electric bike motor kit, the motor will be 350W, wheras the NiMH and the 24V Li-ion both come with a 250W motor. The 350W motor is 0.5 kg heavier, and the maximum torque is 7 Nm greater than in the 250W motor at 32 Nm.

There is also a 500W motor that offers a max torque of 28 Nm, and weighs 4 kg. The price for this option is $1775 / £1170. The prices for other models are cheaper.

A good option looks like the 250W motor with Li-ion battery at $1400 / £950.
