What is a Pedelec?
A pedelec is simply a bike that is pedal assisted by an electric motor. The special difference between a pedelec and an e-bike is that the power only assists when the cyclist is pedalling. The pedelec must comply with these rules:

Sales in Europe
Sales of pedelecs in Europe has increased dramatically in recent years. In Holland, pedelec sales are set to hit 120,000.
That's an increase from 89,000 in 2007. It seems now that that the U.K, U.S, and Canada are starting to notice the huge
benefits of electric bicycles.
The reason for this increase it seems, is that electric bikes are becoming more reliable, along with very cheap running costs.
