It's quite simple really. The IZIP range is competitively priced, reliable, and powerful. They also offer a wider variety of electric bicycles for you to choose from.

However, the lower priced IZIP range will not be for the experienced cyclist. Their quality is not the best by any means, but do not let this put you off if that is what you're looking for.

Battery

Our biggest problem with the IZIP is their lack of range on a single charge of the battery. The IZIP Trailz Al will assist you for only 15 miles with you pedalling normally. This is simply not good enough for most people.

A solution to this is to buy a second battery that would pretty much double your range. Allowing you to travel for 30 miles while pedalling. The Trailz Al for example uses a SLA battery, an additional SLA battery would cost you around $129.99/£87.

For the IZIP foldable electric bicycle, the Via Mezza, it will cost £131.99/£88 for a new battery.

For an 'Enlightened' Izip, a NiMH or Lithium-ion battery will cost $439.99/£296.

Is it worth it? It depends on how important that extra range is to you.

Bear in mind if you're going to have to carry your electric bicycle it will be heavier with an additional battery. The Trailz Al already weighs 27 kg, so just bear that in mind before deciding.

IZIP Electric Bicycles Overview

If you are looking for a powerful machine at a competitive price, the IZIP is that. They are overall good electric bicycles.

Currie bikes biggest problem is with the range of one charge. They can be limited, particularly with the cheaper models. Despite this, IZIP's still get the electric bicycle kingdom seal of approval as a quality bike.
