Mongoose Electric Bike

The Mongoose electric bike is gaining an increased amount of interest from bicycle lovers.

Mongoose are better known for their bmx bikes and mountain bikes, but like the bicycle company Giant, they have decided to join the electric bicycle movement.

Giant, however, have created and designed their own electric bicycles, wheras Mongoose have colaborated with electric bike company Currie.

So why are they gaining a growing amount of interest?

Travellers are interested in this bike because firstly, it's a Mongoose bicycle, and secondly, it's very cheap.

The price is around the $300 mark (£200), while the bike can reach speeds of 15mph.

The battery will last 100-200 charge cycles with a 450 watts motor, there are also alloy brakes, a Shimano 7-speed for gearing, aluminum frame, and alloy crankset.

The spec of the Mongoose electric bike can vary so just check for differences before you buy.

The Mongoose electric bicycle offers a range of around 15 miles.

There has been a few positive comments on the Mongoose bikes, but if you are to buy a Mongoose electric bike, you must be aware of what you're paying for...

$300 is certainly on the cheap side for an electric bike. Therefore it's essential to be aware that this bike is not going to be the greatest by any means.

You will likely encounter niggling problems here and there over time, but if you're not too fussy about a quality ride, and won't be using it relentlessly, then a Mongoose electric assisted bike could be a considerable option.

Should You Buy One?

Only if you're willing to spend this amount on an electric bicycle, however, recently Currie and Mongoose have decided to no longer sell the Mongoose e-bike, but, Currie will still help with spare parts if any are left. Retailers may still sell.

If you are more likely to be using your e-bicycle on a much more regular basis, it may be better to look at an electric bike not much more expensive but is better made and designed.
