The New Pedego Electric Bicycle

The Pedego electric bicycle company has three models in all, one e-bike for men, one e-bike for women, and a folding electric bike for both.

The folding bike has a unique one button, click and fold. It's certainly a good concept but it looks as if it dosen't fold as good as other top folding electric bicycles on the market such as the eZee Quando and the Nano Brompton. Still a nice concept though.

For those of you who love a bit of choice, you won't be short on colour options and accessories. There are many colour combinations to choose from, whether it's blue on blue wheels, black on green wheels, or pink on pink wheels, the choice is yours. There is the choice to keep it plain and simple of course.

You can also choose some handy accessories from baskets to bells and cup holders. These options may be a deliberate attempt to attract a more female audience which is still to catch on as much as the male market. Time will tell.

Overall, that is all very nice, but what can it really do? And is it any good? Well, from one source it is very good. However, whether that's a trusty source or not is another question.

On paper the Pedego electric bicycle looks acceptable. There's a brushless geared rear hub motor, 500 Watt, 10 AMP Hour, 36 Volt, that can achieve 20 mph without pedalling, which is the legal limit in the US.

The battery is a lithium one which is most popular with electric bicycles today: 36 Volt/10 Ah, 500 - 1,000 cycles, and can achieve 15 - 30 miles per charge. However, to achieve 30 miles you would have to do quite a good bit of pedalling yourself. The battery is easy to take off which has to be noted as a plus.

Pedego say their electric bicycle is a lightweight bike designed to provide comfortable riding. It has a wide, cushioned seat and a throttle for powering you along. You can also pedal on top of using the throttle which increases speed further.

How much? The Pedeco will cost you $1,595, while the folding electric bicycle will cost $1,295.

Pedego has just hit Southern California, but if it's successful there, they will be sure to expand. Keep your eyes open for this one.
